United Parish Church Of Winchendon

The United Parish is preparing people today for tomorrow's eternity through a variety of ministries for all ages. Children's ministries from infancy to High School meet during our Sunday 10:00 AM service. A vibrant youth group meets each Sunday evening. Our outreach to our community and church family include various Bible studies, ministry to those who are home bound, and to our local assisted living facilities. You will find our faith community active in many pursuits. Our music ministry crosses the spectrum of Christian Music to traditional. Our community outreach features church dinners and joint community efforts with the other churches in the community.
The purpose of the United Parish is to provide meaningful worship experiences, study the word of God, provide opportunities for fellowship and caring, and reach out to the needs of our community and the world. We are a three denominational church with the Baptist, Methodist, and UCC joining together in 1979. The roots of the United Parish run deep through the town of Winchendon. Our Methodist roots date back to 1796; our Baptist roots to 1783 and our Congregational roots to 1762. The earliest days of Methodism in our town can be traced by going back through the history of our congregation. The same can be said of our Baptist and Congregational strands. Members of The First Congregational Church in Olde Centre founded the meetinghouse in which we currently worship, in 1844. Our Baptist branch goes back through the First Baptist Church and other Baptist Churches to the earliest Baptist services held in our town in 1783. Our Methodist roots are traced to October 1796 when Mr. Eben Arnold opened his home to Lorenzo Dow, a devout Methodist. A Monument to Mr. Dow can be seen on the right side of River Street as on travels towards Royalston. Today, The United Parish remains a vital part of the larger community of Christian Faith here in Winchendon. We find strength through our faith, our heritage and our ecumenical spirit. It is our hope you will consider joining with us to serve the Lord Jesus, the Messiah.
